SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) recruits for Group C non-technical posts; the Havaldar post in CBIC/CBN adds a physical test. Eligibility is 10th pass.

THE SHAPE OF MTS

Two sessions, two different tempers

Session I is maths and reasoning, no negative marking, forty-five minutes. Students rush and still leave easy questions because nobody taught them to finish clean. Session II is GA and English, and here a wrong answer costs a full mark. The bravery that helped in Session I will hurt you in Session II.

Havaldar aspirants have a second life outside the computer lab: PET and PST. We talk about the physical standard early, so the written batch and the morning run are not enemies.

• Session I accuracy drills. No negative marking is not a licence to click everything.
• Session II caution. GA and English with the penalty in mind.
• 10th-level maths rebuilt without shame. Many of our MTS students last saw percentages in school.
• A written plan for Havaldar candidates who also have to meet the physical cut.

WHY PEOPLE UNDERESTIMATE IT

A "smaller" exam still removes most of the hall

Because the eligibility is 10th, families treat MTS as a backup you can clear with last month's notes. The cut-off does not agree. We coach it as its own paper, with its own timing, not as leftover CGL material.
